Swimming Success For Healing Pupils
Finlay Buxton (Year 9), Isabel Priestley (Year 9) and Evelyn Fews - Charlton (Year 8) all had excellent success in May, representing Cleethorpes and District Swimming Club (CADS) at Sheffield Ponds Forge, competing at the Long Course Event.
Between the trio, who also swim for the Healing School team, they secured 14 top ten rankings within their age groups. Finlay attained a Silver in 50m Backstroke and Bronze in 200m Free & 100m Breaststroke. Isabel was awarded a silver in the 200 Butterfly, and obtained personal best times in three further disciplines whilst Evelyn, who was a debutante at her first long course event, secured 6 personal best times, knocking 10 seconds off her 100m freestyle time.
The trio are also active members of the club 'Out of the Water'. Evelyn volunteers for the Bubbles Swim School, assisting former Healing student Ellie Buxton and other coaches in teaching children aged 3 year+ basic core swimming skills. In addition, Finlay, Isabel and Evelyn will soon be embarking upon roles within the CADS Children's Forum, a group dedicated to ensure the younger members of the club have a voice with regards fundraising, events management and how to take the club successfully into the future.
All three swimmers are not only a credit to CADS Swimming Team but also to Healing School; they represented themselves with amazing teamwork and dedication, working exceptionally hard towards their goals.
Healing Principal, Mrs Dewland said: “I am exceptionally proud of the talents of our pupils and their achievements both in and outside of school. Finlay, Isabel and Evelyn continue to be ambassadors to other pupils and we are proud that they are part of ‘Team Healing’.”
