Open Evening's Record Attendance
Year 5 Pupils and their parents enjoying one of the activities on Open Evening.
Record numbers of pupils and their parents attended a highly successful Year 5 Open Evening at Healing School.
Principal Mark Knapton was delighted with the turnout and thanked staff and pupils for helping organise and host a busy night of activities.
The evening showcased what the academy had to offer those pupils due to attend from September 2016.
Mr Knapton said: "We had excellent feedback from the prospective pupils and their parents.
"The real stars of the evening were our existing pupils who volunteered to come in and show the school at its best.
"There was a hive of activity throughout the site and I'd like to thank everybody involved.
"There were so many visitors that we almost ran out of guides to take them around."
The new 18-classroom teaching block, which is currently being built, said Mr Knapton, could have been a reason for the increase in numbers.
"Importantly for Year 5 pupils, it will enable us to increase our Year 7 intake next year by another class size, something asked for by parents over a number of years.
"This will allow us to offer more places to pupils who would like to study at our Ofsted-rated 'outstanding' academy. We will then be in a better position to cope with the anticipated demand."
