Mrs Dewland's Weekly Blog - Week 6

Welcome to my first blog of the new half term; I hope you all remain safe and well.  I also hope that pupils managed to enjoy some ‘down time’ during last week’s break.

If any pupils have learned any new skills or done some voluntary work in support of the community, please message us. It is really nice to hear about what has been achieved and be able share it with others.

Since my last blog and following government guidance, we now know that schools will re-open to Year ten pupils.  Our planning and preparation continues for the safe return of pupils and staff. Parents and carers can be assured that this will not be compromised.  Parents will be contacted by letter this week providing an outline of those plans. Communication will also give them an opportunity to inform the school about whether they will be sending their Year 10 child back or not.

Regardless, for the last seven weeks of this academic year, we will still be asking pupils to work remotely.

We know that we will not see Years 7, 8 and 9 before September and we continue to be grateful to pupils’ families who are supporting them with their online learning.

This virtual school is not easy for any of us.

We hope that pupils continue to look after themselves, but we know some will need support.

Our self help guide to emotional health and wellbeing can be found here (link to www.healing-school.co.uk/healingacademy/media/files/pupil_emotional_health_and_wellbeing_leaflet.pdf)

Under the Covid-19 tab on our website, there are lots of further details and links to a whole range of advice available to support our young people.

Pupils can contact healinghelpers@healing-school.email for support from our pastoral team while parents can contact the school with any concerns via office@healing-school.co.uk

Finally, just a reminder that we will be holding a virtual Open Evening for current Year 5 pupils and information will be shared on 22nd June. We are planning to hold an event in school in September if it safe to do so.

Most importantly, as always, I hope you and your family keep well and stay safe.
