Mrs Dewland's Weekly Blog - Week 5

Welcome to my blog.

A lot has happened in a week!

We have been working through the guidance issued by the Government following the Prime Minister’s announcement last weekend.

It makes it clear that there will be no return to school before September for Years 7 to 9 so pupils, parents and the school can plan accordingly.

Thank you to all pupils for their efforts with the completion of work via our learning platforms, we are really proud of what is being achieved in such unprecedented times, and of course we continue to be grateful for the support being shown by parents/carers.

As far as Year 10 pupils are concerned, we are working to ensure - if they are to return before the end of summer term - they do so in a way which is safe for everyone.  I have contacted Year 10 parents separately to keep them informed of our preparations.

As with the Easter holiday and the VE Day Bank Holiday, no work will be set for over the forthcoming half-term break (25th – 29th May). Pupils should take the opportunity to enjoy some down time.  Work will then be posted again after half term as learning online continues.

We were due to hold our annual Open Evening for current Year 5 pupils on 22nd June. This has been postponed until September, but we will be doing something online. More details to follow.

We love to receive your photographs and videos of what you have been doing at home, away from academic work.  One of my favourites last week – and judging by the number of views, that of many others – was Harry on guitar accompanying his neighbour singing Half a World Away during the clap for the NHS. If you have not seen it on our Facebook page yet, it is well-worth a look! I think we (and the neighbourhood) need an encore!  Another highlight was seeing Will sewing the scrubs bags; an amazingly thoughtful gesture for our NHS heroes.

Please do not forget, if you have any concerns, email office@healing-school.co.uk and pupils requiring any support can email healinghelpers@healing-school.email

Most importantly, as always, I hope you and your family keep well and stay safe. Enjoy half term!
