Healing School Pupils Hit The Heights!

Celebrations took place after pupils improved on Healing School's consistently strong GCSE performance.

The new-style English and Maths exams saw 76% of pupils achieve a 'standard' 4+ pass – the equivalent of the old grade C – in both subjects. A total of 52% gained the 'strong' 5+ pass in the two combined.

Principal Mark Knapton was 'delighted' by another set of impressive results.

"Pupils and staff have been under an enormous amount of pressure because of the changes to English and Maths," he said.

"Not only were the exams tougher but there was the new grading system to contend with."

"There was a lot of uncertainty and I am delighted that all the hard work has paid off with another set of impressive results at this school. We are particularly proud of the English and Maths results".

A 4+ pass was recorded by 89% of pupils in either English Language or English Literature. In Maths, the 4+ figure was 80%.

A total of 90% achieved at least expected levels of progress in English with 80% achieving the same in Maths.

Those achieving three or more A* and A grades was 28.3%, another figure that was an improvement on last year.

Mr Knapton added: "Congratulations to everybody concerned. We wish our Year 11s all the very best with their future education and careers."
