Golden Techniques Prove A Winner
English teacher Mr Hirst with Year 5 pupils and their parents gets into the spirit of the Treasure Island experience, supported by Year 7 helpers.
Treasure that unlocked invaluable learning techniques was discovered at a North East Lincolnshire school.
A Treasure Island experience was one of the fun techniques used by staff at Healing School when Year 5 pupils and their parents visited.
The Support Your Child's Learning in English event was designed to help the transition between primary and secondary school.
Principal Mark Knapton said various activities gave children an idea of what to expect when they move up to the Academy. This included drama, descriptive writing and proof reading.
"Parents play a key role in their children's education, supporting and encouraging them," he said.
"The English department has outstanding practitioners and consistently produces some of the best results in the country. They achieve that using innovative methods which pupils enjoy.
"The latest Support Your Child event demonstrated some of those techniques and proved to be a fun night."
