Divide And Conquer!
Parents and Year 5 students enjoying Support Your Child's Learning Maths event.
Division between children and parents over maths was 'taken away' during a myth-busting evening at Healing School.
A total of 35 families attended the "Support your Child's Learning in Maths" event at Healing School on 14th April.
The invited Year Five pupils currently attend the secondary's feeder schools, with the evening designed to help the transition to Healing.
Principal Mark Knapton said the popular annual event helped parents understand how their children would be taught maths, with many changes since they were at school.
"We don't want young people worrying about maths before they arrive here," he said. "The evening intends to dispel the myths around the subject.
"It focuses on engaging the young people and also shows their parents how they can support their child's learning.
"The activities included shape puzzles, learning to use a compass and angle measurer and Chinese multiplication, as well as looking at useful maths websites. The evening shows how maths can be fun."
