Be Proud And Smile

We have had lots of success this year becoming County Cheerleading Champions, performing at the Dance Showcase in Scunthorpe and competing alongside the top school teams in the Country at the 2015 UKCA Competition in Manchester.

The 50 girls from the intermediate and senior squads travelled to Manchester Velodrome on Sunday 21st June to perform in the UKCA School Cheerleading Championships for the 3rd year. This is one of the most prestigious cheerleading events in the country open to school teams.

In 2013 the girls were awarded 3rd place, and now in 2015 the girls were awarded their greatest achievement yet, coming 2nd place. All 50 girls achieved some excellent comments from the judges and performed very well against the top squads in the Country. The girls received a medal and team trophies that we will display in the trophy cabinet after awards ceremonies.

Healing School PE teacher and coach Helena Yeadon praised all 50 girls who took part.

"I was very proud of them and it's a terrific achievement to have been awarded 2nd place, at such a prestigious event. We were awarded the most points we ever had at Nationals, and both routines were much more complicated than previous years."

"We are now looking forward to performing on Sports Day."

There are very few school teams up to the standard of UKCA, so the girls have already achieved so much just by taking part in the day.

Thank you for the members of staff and helpers of who encouraged and supported the cheerleaders throughout the whole day including Theresa Blanchard, Miss Hutson and Miss Johnson.
